Julia Kogan, soprano

Julia Kogan is an award-winning Russian-American-French coloratura soprano. She is also the creator of contemporary musical projects fusing music, literature, dance, theater and film.

As a performer, Julia started out at the age of twelve in American musical theater before studying classical singing at university. Her international career has spanned opera, art song and concert repertoire from Baroque to contemporary. Her work has been featured in numerous broadcasts on television and radio, as well as in the press (The New York Times, The Washington Post, Opera News, etc.) Her solo recordings are distributed by Harmonia Mundi.

Recent roles include the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” (Musikfestival Steyr, Avignon Opera, Toulouse Opera, Indianapolis Opera, Manitoba Opera), Madame Herz in Mozart’s “Schauspieldirektor” (Toulon Opera, Aix-en-Provence, Compiègne, Abeville, Amiens), Blonde in Mozart’s “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” and Zebinetta in R. Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos” (Limoges Opera), and Greta Fiorentino in the French premiere of Kurt Weill’s “Street Scene” (Toulon Opera), and “Kurt Weill from Berlin to Broadway” with Edwin Cahill (Campos do Jordao, Brazil, Palm Beach Opera).

Julia’s concert appearances have taken her to venues around the world, including multiple appearance at Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center, The Library of Congress in Washington D.C., the Kremlin, the Alcazar Palace in Seville, the Hôtel de Ville in Paris, the Baryshnikov Arts Center, and many others across North and South America, Europe and Africa. She has collaborated with various orchestras and ensembles
